Every student of Russian language Centre receive the Certificate upon the completion of educational programme and test, confirming his tuition in Moscow Lomonosov University Russian Language Centre. Upon student request, we arrange the enclosure to the Certificate, where it is pointed out the amount of hours, devoted to each part of the course (phonetics, grammar, vocabulary etc.), the level of communicative skills in Russian language on the base of test. Why Study Russian?

Russian is spoken by 280 million people; it ranks with English and Chinese as one of three major world languages. Over a quarter of the world’s scientific literature is published in Russian. RUSSIAN FEDERATION

Russia (the Russian Federation — Russia) — the state in east part of the Europe and in northern part of Asia. The population of Russia — 148 million. Religion — Christianity, mainly orthodox. Capital — Moscow.

Russia — a democratic federative state with the republican form of rule. Today Constitution of 1993 operates. Russian Federation includes — 89 subjects of federation, including 21 republic, 6 edges, 49 areas, 2 cities of federal value (Moscow and St.-Petersburg), 1 autonomous region and 10 autonomous regions. Official language of the Russian Federation — Russian.

The head of the state — the president of the Russian Federation selected for 4 years on the basis of general equal elections. The president is also the commander of Armed forces of the Russian Federation.

Representative and a legislature of the Russian Federation (its parliament) — the Federal Assembly consists of two chambers: the State Duma and Council of Federation. The executive authority is carried out by the government of the Russian Federation led by the chairman appointed by the president with the consent of the State Duma. In 1-st century B.C. on a part of territory of Russia existed antique cities (cities-states), the state Bosporskoe, the state of Scythians. In IX century the Old russian state was formed.

In 988-89 the christianity as the state religion of Russia was accepted. In XIII century Russian princedoms have undergone to mongolo-tatar invasion (1237-42), the Novgorod and Pskov influenced the Swedish and German aggression (the Neva fight, 1240; Ice slaughter, 1242).

In end XIV-to the middle of XVI centuries around of Moscow there was the territory of the Russian state which included the lands of Northeast and Northwest Russia. In the end XVI — the middle of XVII centuries the serfdom was issued.

Peter reforms promoted social and economic and cultural development of the country. As a result of uniting in XVI-XIX centuries of territories of the North, the Volga region, Urals Mountains, Siberia, the Far East the multinational state — Russian empire was formed. Russia has reflected napoleonic invasion in Domestic war 1812. During reform of1861 the serfdom has been cancelled. In the end XIX — the beginning of XX centuries political parties (the Party of socialists-revolutionaries, “democratic party”, " the Union on October, 17th “, ” the Union of Russian people") formed.

Defeat in Japanese war 1904-05 has aggravated a situation in the country that has led to Revolution 1905-07. During February revolution 1917 autocracy was declined. On October, 25th 1917 there was an October revolution.

In January 1918 the Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic (RSFSR) was formed. Civil war 1917-22 and military intervention promoted the statement of military-communistic principles of the organization of a society.

In the country dictatorship of Communist party has been actually established. In 1921 the new economic policy has been proclaimed.

During reorganization on June, 12th 1990 Congress of People’s Deputies of RSFSR has accepted the Declaration on the state sovereignty of RSFSR. In December 1991 heads of RSFSR, Belarus and Ukrainian have signed the agreements ascertained the termination of existence of the USSR and formation the Commonwealths of Independent States (CIS).

In 1992 realization of an economic reform (transition to market economy) has begun. In December 1993 the Constitution of the Russian Federation is accepted; are held elections in Federal Assembly. In 1996 B.N.Yeltsin became the president of the Russian Federation for the second term. March 2000 on presidential elections has won V.V.Putin who in April has officially entered a post.

In Russian written monuments the name “Russia” as the designation of the country appears in the end 15 century. It was called as Russia, Russian ground or the Moscow state is more often. From the middle 16 century “Russia” gained the name “the Russian empire” all set of the lands which have entered by then in structure of the centralized state led by Moscow. Later the concept “Russian” began to designate an accessory to the state, the concept “Russian” already in the beginning 16 century was the name of a nationality.

About 17 century terms “Russia” and “the Russian land” began to be used widely in Russian writing. In the beginning of 18th century Russian state has been officially named by Russian empire. As a result of a victory of October revolution 1917 on the majority of territories of former Russian empire the Soviet authority was established and there was a concept “Soviet”. The Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic has been formed. In foreign editions the name “Russia” often designates all Union of the Soviet Socialist Republics.

Learning in Russia

In total in high schools of Soviet Union, and then Russia more than 800 000 foreigners have received education. Russia has the developed system of higher education recognized all over the world — 1900 high schools, almost 5 million students, significant experience of preparation of experts for foreign countries.

Moscow

Moscow is the capital of Russia, centre of the Moscow region. The population of Moscow is about 15,8 million.

The climate in Moscow is full of the natural contrasts, the amplitude of the fluctuation of temperature prevails 50 degrees Centigrade, that is from + 22 C in summer to −30 C in winter The best time for visiting Moscow is January and February in winter, July and August in summer.

Moscow is one of the oldest and one of the most beautiful Russian cities. The city Moscow was founded in 1147 by Prince Yuri Dolgoruky. Today Moscow is one of the largest cities of the world.

The emperors, or tsars, made the city their base of rule until 1712, when the capital was moved to Saint Petersburg. Moscow was restored as Russia’s capital in 1918, and it served as the capital of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) from 1922 until 1991. Since then Moscow is the capital of the Russian Federation.

Moscow has a long and full of drama history. Many times the city has been completely destroyed and rebuilt again. Its most ancient wooden buildings disappeared in fires. Each time the city resurrected from the ash to become more and more beautiful.

Moscow has absorbed many different styles that strike the visitors with their variety. Stalin epoch monumental buildings neighbor with small two-store XIX century town houses; splendid cathedrals peer from modern skyscrapers. Even in the heart of Moscow, in the Kremlin, old churches compete with the immense Congress Palace for space.

The heart of Moscow is Red Square. The Kremlin and St. Basil’s Cathedral are masterpieces of ancient Russian architecture.

Moscow is famous for numerous places of interest and architectural monuments, among them the Kremlin, Novodevichy convent, the Moscow State University, Triumphal Arch, Memorial center in Poklonnaya hill, St.Basil.s Cathedral, the Kolomenskoye Museum Estate.

Moscow is a city of the theaters, among them the world famous Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre. There are numerous museums, exhibition halls and art galleries throughout the city, the most famous is the Tretyakov Gallery, the Pushkin Fine Arts Museum.

More than 8mln people are living in Moscow, and more than 11 mln. in Moscow with its suburbs. The Moscow dialect was specific: a tendency to use the sound “a” instead of “O” was recorded by scientists and writers; in the same time, the Moscow dialect is thought to be the closest to the correct “pure” language.

MOSCOW STATE UNIVERSITY

The Lomonosov Moscow State University is the oldest and the most prestigious university of Russia.

Moscow University was founded on 12 (25)th of January 1755 on Saint Tatyana’s Day at the decree of the Empress Elizaveta and on the initiative of the great Russian scientist Mikhail Lomonosov. The day of Moscow University’s foundation is celebrated as the Student’s Day in Russia. Started with three faculties in 1755, Moscow State University nowadays offers education in 27 faculties and research training in a number of institutes.

The University teachers and professors are highly qualified and world recognised for their achievements in modern sciences. Further, the application of the latest techniques in teaching provides the necessary background for an excellent education. The Diploma of Moscow University has won universal prestige and is recognised worldwide. Many educational programmes are carried out in close co-operation with research institutes of the University and the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The Main Building of the University is world famous for its exceptional architecture and size — it is the largest and tallest university building throughout the world. Council on Russian language

According to decree of the President of the Russian Federation from May, 23rd, 1997 N 519 “About system of consultative and advisory bodies at the President of the Russian Federation ” (Assembly of the legislation of the Russian Federation, 1997, N 21,) and with the purposes of development and promotion of learning russian language the Government of Russian Federation decided to form Council on russian language at the Government of the Russian Federation.

Council on Russian language at the Government of the Russian Federation is advisory body at the Government of the Russian Federation, carrying out measures for support, development and distribution of russian language, creating motivations to learn russian abroad.

Council is guided by the Constitution of the Russian Federation, federal laws, decrees and orders of the President of the Russian Federation, decisions and orders of the Government of the Russian Federation. The primary goals of Council are: informing of the Government of the Russian Federation on problems of development of Russian language; working out of recommendations on realization of a state policy in the field of Russian language.

According to the primary goals Council carries out: support of Russian as state language of the Russian Federation, as a national language of Russian people, promotion of use of Russian in interethnic and international dialogue, increases culture of possession of Russian language; improves preparation of experts which activity is connected with professional use of russian language; preparation of recommendations on development fundamental and applied researches in the field of Russian language; assistance of popularization of knowledge of Russian through mass media explaining why it is necessary to learn russian. Representatives of Council participate in consideration of questions of support and development of Russian, preparation of experts in the field of Russian and carrying out of scientific researches by corresponding federal enforcement authorities, the scientific organizations and public associations.
